Being a Collector

Follow these simple steps and start tackling plastic waste!

  1. Precious Plastic FNQ Collection Point
Precious Plastic FNQ operates its Collection Point from the main office of GSL: a Good Start To Life.
    3/127 Anderson St, Manunda.
Drop-offs can be made 9am-4pm Monday to Friday.
We accept plastic bottle caps only.

  2. Prepare your plastic!
It’s important to collect clean, label-free plastic that can actually be recycled in the Precious Plastic network. Watch this video to learn how to best prepare your plastic for recycling.
Please deliver your clean, plastic caps in paper shopping bags.

  3. Start gathering your plastic
Now you know what plastic type your local Collection Point accepts and how to prepare, it’s time to start gathering your clean, label-free plastic at home or work and start real recycling.
When possible, try to buy a plastic-free option! It’s always better than recycling.

  4. Drop off or pick up
Once you’ve gathered enough clean plastic it’s time to drop it off at the Collection Point to start its recycling journey.
    That’s it, you’re done!

Being a Sorter

Follow these simple steps and start tackling plastic waste!

  1. Precious Plastic FNQ Shredder Space
Precious Plastic FNQ operates its Shredder Space from Factory 14 Trader’s Lane on McCormack St, Manunda. If you’re Googling the address you should search for:
    14/117-121 Anderson St, Manunda.
We operate 9am-3pm Tuesday to Thursday.

  2. Main Job Duties
It’s important that the shredded plastic we make doesn’t contain different types of plastic mixed together and that it is clean. This provides a high-purity raw plastic that manufacturers can use. We do this by:
    – Popping the caps into washing bags, running them through a washing machine and putting them out to dry.
    – Carefully sorting the caps by colour and plastics type (recycle number)
    – Shredding and bagging the bottle caps

  3. Check you are a fit
We offer training and will team you up with a supportive crew led by a supervisor, so you’ll always have assistance. If you’re on board with all these points, then joining us as a sorter could be a great fit for you!
I am comfortable working in an open air factory with no air-conditioning
    – I am okay with loud noise and understand the shredder is noisy
    – I understand that there might be smells associated with plastic recycling
    – I am physically able to lift and carry containers weighing up to five kilograms
